AH!

We were walking along the streets of Paris, France. It was bitter cold and we were walking briskly, with our heads mostly down, to fend off the cold. We rounded a corner and behold, we stopped and exclaimed out loud. We had our first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower, lit up at night. We stood mesmerized for a time. Then we rushed toward our goal, the Eiffel Tower, and thus collectively forgot about how cold we were.

I believe this is a bit of how it is to be a baby. Their world is full of surprises and wonder. Let the baby just wallow in their new found discoveries. Please do not rush them along to the next thing. It is amazing to watch a child study, taste, touch, shake, bang, turn, and gaze at an object. What could he possibly be getting from this intense state of exploration? I think he is getting the "rounding the corner and seeing a lit up Eiffel Tower experience" on a regular basis. Watch, observe, and learn from your little scientist. Just sit and marvel at his marveling. It is a wondrous and glorious feeling. To be entranced by the world around you is just one of the great things about being a baby.
